A focus on Micky Ogburn, Henrico County School Board, Three Chopt District

Greetings all!

Please allow me to thank all of those who have already volunteered in many ways for our campaigns, and for the Tuesday, November 3, 2015 elections.  We have much more to do however and need many more volunteers.  Please email me at ewhitlock@lawplc.com to volunteer.  You can also contact the campaigns directly. You can visit the unified Henrico Republican campaign office: “TEAMGOP Victory Office” at 3163 Lauderdale Drive, Henrico, Virginia 23233.

On November 3, 2015, we have important elections for our local government (Commonwealth’s Attorney, Sheriff, Clerk of Court, Board of Supervisors and School Board) as well as our General Assembly (Senate and House of Delegates).  Today the blog will feature Three Chopt School Board member Micky Ogburn.

Micky was elected to the Henrico County School Board in November 2014.  Micky was a teacher for more than 20 years in Henrico County as well as other counties in Virginia and West Virginia.  She is dedicated to improving student achievement every day and has a passion for Henrico County Schools.

Both of Micky’s sons were successful in HCPS from elementary through high school. She has been a committed PTA, community, and sports booster volunteer and was honored as the 2002 PTA Volunteer of the Year at Short Pump Elementary School.

Micky came to the Henrico County School Board in 2014 with a thorough understanding of HCPS from the teacher, volunteer, and parent perspectives.  Since then, she has met with the faculty of all schools in the Three Chopt district in hopes to improve teacher morale and communication.  Micky has also worked to add transparency to the budget process.  As a part of her School Board duties, Micky serves as a member of the School Board of the Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School, The Instructional Materials Committee, The Math Science Innovation Center Board, The Student Health Advisory Board and the Gifted Advisory Committee..
